Pucker Up for Pickles!

Get ready for a dill-lightful day of fun at our very first PickleFest! Enjoy a pickle jar hunt, tasty pickle sampling, a competitive pickle-eating contest, and the crowd-favorite pickle spoon race. Plus, enjoy delicious food, live music, hayrides, family activities, and plenty more pickle-packed fun for all ages!

Farm Admission: $25 +fees per person online; $30 at the gate. Children under 2 are free.

Special Events

  • Hunt for Pickles! Pickle jars will be hidden all over the farm. Guests receive a clue card at the entrance — find all the jars and win a prize pack of goodies.
  • Pickle Tasting. Come to the Country Store and sample all of the pickles made on the farm! Guests vote for their favorites.
  • Pickle Eating Contest. A junior division and adult division for the most whole dill pickles eaten in 3 minutes. Trophies to be awarded!
  • Pickle Spoon Race. Two races — for kids and then adults. It’s like the old-fashioned egg race, but with pickles! Prizes awarded.

All-Day Fun Includes:
Virginia History Carousel, hay rides, cow train, fairy garden greenhouse (with kids crafts), Grampy’s Village Zoo, craft vendors, photo ops and more! Shop the Country Store for gifts, ice cream, souvenir apparel … and pickles! Enjoy libation from Restless Moon Craft Beers who will be onsite all day.

Summer Solstice & Fairy Faire

If you’ve ever dreamed of fluttering wings, enchanted gardens, and a day full of whimsy, the Summer Solstice Fairy Faire weekend at Back Home on the Farm is the event you’ve been waiting for! Join us for two full days of fairy-tale fun, magical memories, craft vendors, and hands-on adventures the whole family will love.

Fairy Godmother’s Tea

$26 per person – includes farm admission
1pm on Saturday and also on Sunday

Enjoy fresh brewed tea, sweets, cookies, and savories galore. Each guest gets a keepsake teacup and saucer plus a luncheon plate to take home.
Plus, enjoy a delightful and engaging storytime hosted by the Fairy GodMother herself!

Homeschool Day

Thursday, October 3
9am – 2pm. (Guests must arrive by 10:30am)
Admission $8 (under 2 are free). Online ticket purchase required; sorry, no refunds.  Must be purchased by October 1.
No tickets sold at the gate.
Take advantage of Fall Farm Learning Labs geared to PreK to 2nd grade levels.
Activities include storytelling at the stage, ride the historic carousel, and a hayride to the pumpkin patch.  A pumpkin will be provided for children in 2nd grade or younger with admission.
Feel free to bring a picnic lunch.
The maze will not be open and pig races are not held during the week.  All other activities will be available

Note: Reservations limited.  The first 400 only.

Fall Farm Learning Labs

We offer farm learning units generally on the topics below. The labs are geared to PreK to 2nd grade levels.

General Information

  • Middle and high school students are welcome, but must remain with a parent.
  • Pumpkins are available to purchase; they are not included in the admission fee.
  • Sorry, the corn maze will not be open.
  • You are welcome to bring a lunch to enjoy at our picnic tables.
